MALAYSIA.... |

Weather/Time... |
is situated 7 degrees north of the equator in Southeast Asia. The northern part of Peninsular Malaysia borders Thailand. To the east is the South China Sea, to the south is Singapore and to the west are the Straits of Melaka.
Sabah and Sarawak are on the northern coast of the island of Borneo.
Malaysia has fervently embraced modern technology - it boasts two of the world's tallest skyscrapers and a huge "cyber" center for computer businesses. But it still has some of the world's most remote jungle (in Sabah and Sarawak), one of Southeast Asia's most vibrant old ports (Georgetown) and an atmospheric colonial hill station (the Cameron Highlands).
Even in Kuala Lumpur, the capital, which bristles with ambitious new building projects, you can still find exotic markets and plenty of local color. As a result, travelers to Malaysia can easily ratchet up or down the levels of adventure and comfort they want to experience.
We offer a full range of vacation packages that we think you will enjoy. | Language... |
Bahasa Melayu (official), English, Chinese dialects (Cantonese, Mandarin, Hokkien, Hakka, Hainan, Foochow), Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Panjabi, Thai; note - in addition, in East Malaysia several indigenous languages are spoken, the largest are Iban and Kadazan.
As a result of the different races gathered in this country, many different languages are spoken. Bahasa Melayu (the Malay language) is the predominant language but English, Mandarin, Cantonese, Hokkien, Hakka, Tamil and Hindi are also widely spoken.
Also peculiar to Malaysians is "Manglish" or Malaysian English - a curious combination of all the different languages spoken in Malaysia and English. One thing you must bring home from Malaysia is the knowledge of when to properly place the "lah". |

| What to wear... |
| Light, cool, and casual clothing is recommended all year round. For more formal occasions, men should wear jackets, ties, or long-sleeved batik shirts whereas women should wear dresses. |

| Culture & Customs... |
| Malaysians are charming and friendly. Pointing a finger at a person is considered very rude. Most temples and mosques have a donation box to maintain the building; contributing a few coins before leaving is customary. Tipping is not common in Malaysia, especially in more rural areas. A simple 'Terima Kasih' (thank you) and a smile will do. |
| Tipping... |
| Tipping is not a way of life in Malaysia. |
